INTERNAL AUDIT

The Department of Internal Audit of the hospital came to existence at the establishment of the hospital in April, 1993 with just 3 staff headed by Mr. Oguntoye Festus who later retired as director of finance in july 2021.

In 2008, Mr Alamutu was posted from Finance & Account to replace Mr Oguntoye who was moved to Finance & Account. Mr Alamutu ran the department successfully until his statutory retirement in January 2021.

Upon Mr Alamutu’s retirement, Mr Ayelabola Oluseun was appointed in acting capacity as the Head of Department. He was later confirmed as substantive Head of Department in May 2021 by the Medical Director Professor A.A. Musa-Olomu. The Internal Audit Department of the Hospital is charged with the functions of measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of all the Internal Control Systems in the Centre. The conduct of the monitoring and evaluation are facilitated by the members of staff in the Department. These officers’ activities, duties and functions are recognized in the relevant administrative books of the nation including Financial Regulations and Treasury Circulars. The Department of Internal Audit of the hospital is also saddled with the responsibility of safeguarding and protecting hospital’s assets (financial and otherwise), ensures accuracy of all financial records, minimizing risks, promote operational efficiency, and encourage adherence to policies, rules, regulations, and laws.

Staff Strength

The department is currently having 112 members of staff including Professional Accountants, Executive Officers, administrative and clerical staff and two (2) Corp Members and in order to carry out our statutory roles, the department is divided into Nine (9) units.
