Physiotherapy

The physiotherapy department came on board in this hospital with the employment of the 1st Physiotherapist – Miss Taiwo Kuforiji (now Mrs. Taiwo Olatunji) on the 25th of October, 1993. She remained the only staff of the department until 1997 when another young physiotherapist joined her and in 1998 when Dr. A.O. Davis and Dr. R.O. Lateef also came on board. The department has since grown from these few to a large cohort.

The department was later accredited for internship training in 2005. The department was also privileged to have Occupational Therapists join the train when the first Occupational therapist – Miss B.O. Aladesuyi (now Mrs. Ojurongbe) was employed in 2018.

In the year 2018 after the department’s sojourn at different places within the hospital, we eventually moved to the building specifically built for the department. The staff strength increased rapidly from then with Physiotherapists, Occupational therapist and other support staff in the likes of porters, administrative staff, confidential secretaries joining the work force that made up the department. However in the past 18months, the staff strength has reduced greatly with the relocation of Physiotherapists and Occupational therapists outside of the country.
